Week 8
Unfortunately the weather has caused havoc again
this weekend with a number of fixtures cancelled. But the games
that did go ahead gave us a feast of football despite the terrible
underfoot conditions.
On Saturday we had two cracking Under 14 Division
1 games. Carrigaline United at home to Glounthaune United was
a goalfest with the home side coming through on a 6 - 5 scoreline
which means both teams are now on 3 points. Unbelieveably, Carrigaline
had 6 different scorers, Laura Coughlan, Kelly O'Leary, Mary McGuinness,
Deborah Koffi, Shannon Bateman and Anna O'Keeffe. The scorers
for Glounthaune United were Clodagh Lane (2), Emer Gilroy, Angie
Carry and Nicole Cashman.
The Carrigaline
Under 14 side who are enjoying their football in Division 1
Meanwhile history was made at Kilcully when St.
Mary's registered their first win at schoolgirls level when they
defeated Youghal United on a 2 - 1 scoreline. While Youghal will
be disappointed to be still pointless in the Division, this win
is a great boost to all involved at St. Marys and is a testimony
to the strides that are being made at the club.
But it's Ballincollig who continue to lead the
way in this division as they continued their 100% start to the
season with another victory, this time a 4 - 0 win at home to
Richmond. In fairness to the visitors, they battled hard all afternoon
and it was only in the second half that the home side took their
chances. Patricia Murphy scored twice, with Amy Wilson and Melissa
Roddis grabbing the other two. Shannon Desmond also played a big
part in the Ballincollig win, while Richmond had great performances
from Ann Marie Cahill, Lorna Connell and Ellen Murphy.
In the Premier Division, Crosshaven travelled
to Buttevant and came away with all three points after a 1 - 2
victory. Erin Harrington, on her debut, scored for Crosshavan
with Megan O'Keeffe getting their second. Crosshaven had star
performances from Savanna Dunlea, Gillian Crowley, Rachel Long
and especially keeper Katy Rearden, who had a superb game and
who saved a second half penalty.
Week 7
First results in today come from the Under 12 Premier Division
where College Corinthians march on with another victory, this
time 4 - 0 over neighbours Douglas Hall while Midleton moved themselves
up the table after a 3 - 0 victory at home to Ballinhassig, who
now find themselves rooted to the foot of the table after their
two games.
In Division 1, the result of the day must go
to Glounthaune United, who defeated fancied and previously unbeaten
Crosshaven by 6 - 1 at Glenmore Park. Emer Gilroy, who is beginning
to make a name for herself, scored twice, with the other goals
coming from Nicole Cashman, Jill Sexton, Gill Healy and Chloe
Aherne. Alison Daly and Elena Fleming also played well for the
home side. Ciara O'Keeffe got the Crosshaven goal and there were
also good performances from Sinead Heffernan, Aoife Bland, Katie
Connelly and Judy Mills. Bandon are still to team to beat in this
Division as they won their fourth on the trot. This time it was
away to Kinsale on a 0 - 3 scoreline. Carrigaline United had a
good result away to Youghal United, winning on a 0 - 2 scoreline
with the goals coming from Deborah Coffey and Rachel Griffin.
